Initiators

Webcamconsult is an initiative of two dermatologists (Dr. Milan Tjioe and Dr. Dick van Gerwen) and an experienced Internet entrepreneur (Bert van Gerwen).

All have many years of e-Health experience with various Dermateam apps and the Huidconsult.nl portal for comprehensive dermatological information, diagnostic tools and online consultations.

From that experience, both doctors have worked to facilitate general e-health for physicians via webcams.

Dr. Milan Tjioe

Has been a dermatologist at Hospital Lievensberg in Bergen op Zoom since 2009. He specialized in dermatology in Nijmegen (University Medical Center St Radboud) and obtained his PhD in 2003, after scientific research on the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation (UV light) and on improving light therapy for the treatment of vitiligo. He then worked at the Gelre Ziekenhuizen in Apeldoorn for 3 years before settling in Bergen op Zoom.

Dr. Tjioe is a medical advisor to the National Association for Vitiligo Patients (LVVP) and, together with Dr. Ingrid Kramer, psychologist, has also written the book "Vitiligo and so on" for them.

Dr. Tjioe is a general dermatologist with special interest in the treatment of skin cancer and psoriasis and pediatric dermatology and is BIG registered under number 99048451101 (physicians, dermatology and venereology).

Dr. Dick van Gerwen

Dr van Gerwen has been a dermatologist at Ziekenhuis Lievensberg in Bergen op Zoom since 1996. Since Sep 1, 2011 he also works in Middelburg. He has many years of experience with all types of skin problems and diseases.

His training was completed at the Academic Hospital Nijmegen St. Radboud, where he received his doctorate in 1994, following a scientific study on the effectiveness of elastic stockings in varicose veins and venous insufficiency.

Dr. van Gerwen co-founded the phlebology clinic at Lievensberg Hospital for the treatment of varicose veins and chronic wounds. In 2001 he started the Skin and Laser Clinic in Bergen op Zoom, and in 2007 he started Huidconsult.nl, the website with extensive patient information and online consulting. He was president of the Dutch Association for Dermatology and Venereology (NVDV), and is listed in the BIG register under number 19025995901 (doctors, dermatology and venereology).

Drs. Bert van Gerwen

Bert van Gerwen is an e-business innovator who, after e-commerce projects at KPN in the 1990s, focused on developing e-business platforms and offering online services through iMerge and Iceshop.

He was until recently (co-)owner of iMerge, best known through subsidiaries Futurumshop BV and Icecat NV, world market leader in product content syndication with clients such as Intel, Philips, Sony and Samsung. After selling his shares he is profiling himself as an investor in e-business.

In Webcamconsult, he is not only investor but also co-architect of the service. In addition, he takes care of building especially the technical and commercial activities.
